1. St2 Research Project The Research Outcome DUE DATE: Friday October 28 (T4 Wk2)

2. SACE Description • Assessment Type 2: Research Outcome • Students negotiate with their teachers suitable forms for producing their research outcome. The form is likely to vary from student to student, depending on the research topic and focus of the research processes. The evidence of learning submitted for assessment may be, for example: • an essay, a report, a booklet, or an article that incorporates evidence and examples that substantiate the key findings • a product, such as an artefact, a manufactured article, or a work of art or literature, or a record of a product, with accompanying evidence and examples that substantiate the key findings. • The research outcome may be presented in written, oral, or multimodal form. In most cases the word and time limits, as stated in the Research Project subject outline, apply both to the research outcome or product, and to the accompanying evidence and examples. • However, in some cases the word and time limits apply only to the accompanying evidence and examples that substantiate the key findings. The outcome or product may be, for example, an installation, a construction, or a song, to which work and time limits would not apply. 3. Purpose For each student to present the findings and explain the ideas and insights gained from the research project. Description of assessment Present your findings and explain the ideas and insights that you have gained from the research project to support the findings. Forms of presentation Negotiate with your teacher to choose suitable forms of presenting your findings and explaining your ideas and insights, for example: a written report with the results, conclusions, recommendations or solutions to a problem or question a product, such as a created artefact, manufactured article, work of art or literature, a display or exhibition a combination of performance (live or recorded) and product.

4. Audience Present your findings and explain your ideas and insights to the teacher, and possibly a broader audience of your choice (eg other students, a live or virtual audience, a community member(s), or a reader or viewer). Word/time limits Evidence of the presentation and explanation should be: 1500 words maximum, if written 10 minutes maximum, if presented orally or multimodally.

5. Assessment Criteria To guide you in presenting the key findings of your research, remember that you should provide evidence of: Synthesis 1 Production of the research outcome • Creation of a research outcome that brings together the knowledge, skills, and ideas that have emerged from the research. Synthesis 2 Substantiation of the key findings • Identification or demonstration of knowledge, skills, and ideas, central to the research outcome, that are supported by evidence and examples from the research. Synthesis 3Expression of ideas • Clear organisation of information and ideas • Accurate and appropriate communication in written, oral, or multimodal form.
