ACCESS ACCESS The rack-and-container system The basic component parts of ACCESS • Containers • Racks with bins combined in a micro network • Forklifts • Computer network of the storage, Equipped with Upper Level Software This system was originally designed for automation of valuables storage in the Bank of Russia. It is in use since 1995. At present, 5 largest cash vaults of the Sverdlovsk region (Russia), the largest Bank of Russia document storage of the Sverdlovsk region (Russia), and the cash operating unit of the Central Vault of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus are all equipped with this system. Containers are light fireproof aluminum boxes holding either 100 banknote packages (100 kg) or 25 bags with coins (160 kg). Each container is equipped with two touch memory buttons (microchips with nonvolatile memory). One of the microchips contains a unique number of its container and all data on its contents. For the purpose of writing or reading these data, container is put on a special trolley equipped with a reading/writingdevice and connected to the COM port of the PC with a special cable. The other microchip ensures that the state of the cover (open/closed) is continuously monitored both during storage in racks and during transportation on a forklift.

  6. ASPHP On the outside at the lock chambers there are tables for paper counting. These tables are used for such operations as putting together paper for pallets, accepting and dispensing pallets to printers, etc. Automating the storage allowed the Perm Printing Factory to increase the paper storing safety by allocating the responsibility for safe storage between the staff and the system. Besides, the design of the storage allows the system to serve production needs efficiently, because pallets are moved around the storage (in particular, between the floors) in the “background” mode, “imperceptibly” for the staff. Eventual changes in manufacturing processes will not be a reason to change the structure of the storage. It will only require a correction in the current storage process with the help of tools available in the system itself. The Warehouse consists of two rooms located on two floors of the building. Each room contains 4 racks and pallets with paper are stored in bins of these racks. Design of the racks ensures direct access to each pallet. pallets are moved inside The Warehouse with various mechanisms – roll-tables, elevators, forklifts. Pallets are equipped with identifiers and bins of the racks are equipped with reader devices; it ensures that all movements and current locations of any pallet are monitored. Bin location warehousing is supported, i.e. the system can always answer the question which pallets with paper are where. To receive pallets and to dispense them from The Warehouse, at each floor there are 4 lock chambers with roll-tables. ASPHP System (automated system for intermediary storage of semi-manufactured articles) is designed to automate the warehouse work at the THE PERM PRINTING FACTORY. The accounting entity at the warehouse is a pallet with paper. In 2003 THE PERM PRINTING FACTORY began erection of a new building for automated warehouse designed for storage of white paper and intermediate products (i.e. paper that has gone through at least one print cycle). The warehouse is controlled through the specifically developed warehouse system – ASPHP.

The warehouse of Sberbank The system works with valuables of the following types: • cash (banknotes and coins); • precious metals in bullions; • coins made of precious metals; • sets of cartridges for ATM; • security paper forms, packed in bundles by form types; • bags with valuables from customers’ safe deposit boxes; • keys packed in sacks; • valuable parcels and envelopes with valuables. The warehouse of Sberbank The system is designed to process and store valuables packed in containers. In the vaults, storage items are placed in bins of the rack system. Each bin is equipped with an electronic commutator for identification of containers included in the common micro network. Inside the vaults, containers are handled (put into bins, removed from racks, transported) with a stacker crane. The system employs containers of 3 types: for banknotes, cartridges, and coins. Each container is equipped with memory and an electronic seal, and marked with a barcode. Communication between the system and its users is ensured through workstations for administrator, workstations for stock-keepers (situated in the intermediary room), workstations for container generators (situated in cash processing rooms), and workstations for placement (situated near vault windows).

The warehouse of the Moscow printing factory of Goznak The accounting entity at the warehouse is white paper and intermediate products packed onto storage units such as pallets (for white paper, offset printed sheets, etc.) and metal wire-mesh containers (for intaglio printed sheets). Pallets and containers are equipped with RFID tags for automatic identification. The warehouse of the Moscow printing factory of Goznak In the vaults, storage units are placed in bins of the rack system. Each bin is equipped with a pallet (container) RFID tag reader. Storage units are handled (placed in racks/bins, withdrawn from racks/bins) in the vault with a manual forklift. Accepting paper to the vault and dispensing paper from the vault is performed through the door equipped with RFID tag readers for storage units. As a storage unit passes through the door, the RFID tag is automatically read and the direction of the movement is determined. The system is designed to automate the warehouse work under use of stationary racks for storage of white paper and intermediate products. Main types of operations in the system • registering storage unit, • deleting storage unit from the system, • accepting pallet to vault with counting of sheets, • accepting container to vault without counting of sheets, • counting paper from container, • dispensing storage unit from vault for processing, • dispensing storage unit from vault to the outside.
