  3. Estd.1995 The objective of this project is to determine whether the currency is counterfeit one or the original one. The term counterfeit money is imitation of the currency produced without the legal sanction of the state or government. Producing or using this fake money is a form of fraud or forgery. Scope and Objective Department of Computer Science & Engineering 3 6.4.2015 Sethu Institute of Technology

  4. Estd.1995 • The identification and detection of fake currency was difficult. It can be easily counterfeited by removing the starch in paper. This has led to the increase of corruption in our country hindering country’s growth. Problem Definition Department of Computer Science & Engineering 4 6.4.2015 Sethu Institute of Technology

  5. Estd.1995 • 1.Counterfeit Currency Detection Technique Using Image Processing, Polarization Principle and Holographic Technique(IEEE) By Santhanam, K. • Abstract : • The growing menace of fake or counterfeit currency is one of the biggest threat to any nations economy across the globe and to ameliorate this threat is a far cry, so through this paper titled DIGITIZED CURRENCY we provide an innovative method to identify the counterfeit currency, (i.e) it encompasses polarization concept, Image processing technique, and Holographic Detection methods to detect counterfeit currency based on the Literature survey Department of Computer Science & Engineering 5 6.4.2015 Sethu Institute of Technology

  6. Estd.1995 physical properties of the currency rather than the existing methodology that relay on its chemical property. This is achieved by providing mathematical model, experimental verification and Lab view based simulation and also through automation to enhance reliability and accuracy in a cheaper, efficient and dynamic way in detecting the counterfeit currency. Abstract : Counterfeit money is imitation currency produced without the legal sanction of the state or government. Producing or using this fake money is a form of fraud or forgery. Counterfeiting is as old as money itself, and is sufficiently prevalent throughout history Improved fake fake currency detector –NM Joshi,RP Bajpai,G.Mitra Department of Computer Science & Engineering 6 Sethu Institute of Technology 6.4.2015

  7. Estd.1995 that it has been called "the world's second oldest profession.. This has led to the increase of corruption in our country hindering country’s growth. Common man became a scapegoat for the fake currency circulation, let us suppose that a common man went to a bank to deposit money in bank but only to see that some of the notes are fake, in this case he has to take the blame. Counterfeiting, of whatever kind, may be that has been occurring ever since humans grasped the concept of valuable items, and there has been an ongoing race between certifier like (banks, for example) and counterfeiter ever since. Some of the effects that counterfeit money has on society include a reduction in the value Limitations on the counterfeit detection pen RA.clay Department of Computer Science & Engineering Sethu Institute of Technology7 6.4.2015

  8. Estd.1995 currency detection by the public. However, creation of false positives and false negatives severely limit the Pen. This research project determines what creates a false positive reaction on genuine currency and what steps counterfeiters are taking to circumvent the Pen by causing false negative reactions. Laundry starch, French fry grease, and laundry detergent are tested to determine whether they create false positives on genuine currency. Nail polish, oven cleaner, pump and aerosol hairsprays, deodorant, and laundry stain remover are tested to determine whether they create false negatives on counterfeit currency. 11. Estd.1995 The existing system of this project used counterfeit pen to find the originality of note. The iodine is used to detect the fake note by reacting with the paper. The disadvantage of this system is it can easily counterfeited by removing the starch in paper. Existing System Department of Computer Science & Engineering Sethu Institute of Technology116.4.2015

  12. Estd.1995 The need for the new system is to detect fake notes which gives the power to a common man to control fake currency circulation in our country and to avoid corruption. To identify and detect the fake currency easily. Need For New System Department of Computer Science & Engineering Sethu Institute of Technology126.4.2015

  13. Estd.1995 The proposed system uses the comparison technique of reference note with the testing note. The advantage over the existing system is reducing the external sources and individual user also be aware of the fake notes. 16. Estd.1995 The small floral design printed both on the front (hollow) and back (filled up) of the note in the middle of the vertical band next to the Watermark has an accurate back to back registration. The design will appear as floral design when seen against the light. Acquisition Department of Computer Science & Engineering Sethu Institute of Technology166.4.2015

  17. Estd.1995 • This module is to process the acquired image from the user for the comparison with the reference image. Initially opencv manager app is needed to install from play store before we run the fake currency detector app. we need to do this because opencv manager is used by application for image enhancement, panorama stitching ,object detection, recognition and tracking. Pre-Process: Department of Computer Science & Engineering 17 Sethu Institute of Technology6.4.2015

  18. Estd.1995 • In this the reference image and the test image is compared to determine the originality of currency. The comparison is done based on the Hamming Distance (i.e) In theory, the information Hamming distance between two strings of equal length is the number of positions at which the corresponding symbols are different. In another way, it measures the minimum number of substitutions required to change one string into the other, or the minimum number of errors that could have transformed one string into the other.
