  1. Triathlon Nutrition Clinic Series • Join Lauren Trocchio, registered and licensed dietitian for this 4-part nutrition series. Whether a veteran or beginner athlete, this series is sure to enhance everyone's racing season. It has been said nutrition is the fourth sport of triathlon - come learn how to: • Enhance your recovery • Avoid gastrointestinal problems • Improve workout and race performance • Make healthy and sustainable weight or body composition changes • You'll learn the "why" and "when" behind fueling for the sport of triathlon and most importantly how to carry it out in your daily life. The clinic will culminate with a tour at a local grocery store and include over 10 pages in informational handouts. • April 6th – Start from Scratch! • We will cover the basic nutrients, which foods provide them, and why we need them as athletes. Using visual aids and sample sports foods you'll learn to understand foods using the nutrition label and ingredients list. • April 13th – Applying the Basics! • We'll take your new understanding of the basic nutrients one step further and discuss when we need them surrounding training and races, and in what amounts. During this session you will develop an individualized sample daily fueling plan using the discussed nutrient recommendations. • April 27th – Let's Talk Supplements! • Understanding how supplements are regulated is important both as a consumer and as an athlete. We will review some of the most talked about and used supplements on the market today and discuss whether they are safe or effective. We will also touch on tips for safe and sustainable ways to create weight changes, and how to fuel when traveling. • May 4th – Grocery Store Tour • During this trip to a local grocery store, we will talk about how to develop a plan for your shopping trip as well as tips for selecting foods and beverages to meet your daily fueling needs.
