VinaREN • April 2006, NACESTI was nominated as national coordinator of TEIN2 in Vietnam; • Official launching in June 2006, connecting to TEIN2; • Feb 2007, VinaREN joined APAN 22 in Manila; • April 2007, TEIN2-VN project approved, NACESTI was assigned as project implementing organization; • March, 2008 The Third National forum and Official launching VinaREN at national scale was held in HCM City; • The 4th VinaREN National Forum and launching TEIN3 will be held in 20th March 2009.   7. Total 7NOCs: NOC (VNNOC; NOC-HN; NOC-TN; NOC-DN; NOC-HUE; NOC-HCM; NOC-CT) and 02 POP (POP-VAST; POP-WRU). To be expanded more POP in some City. 53 Members (Universities and Institutes in whole country) connected directly to the backbone and manage about 200 Km fiber optic cable. Conneted 11 provinces and major Cities in Vietnam VinaREN Infrastructure and connectivities March, 2009

VinaREN Recent Activities Implement research activities between VinaREN members: • Open Source systems development (Open sources and Open courses ware on the Network); • Advanced network technologies: network security, monitoring, network management, Grid computing, etc…; • E-learning, E-lectures, (Universities, institutes, NOCs) • Download and process data for Hydrometeological forecasting in Vietnam • Video conferencing, telemedicine (NOCs, Hospitals, Institutes); Participation in International and regional projects: • AI3-SOI (WIDE project) among ASEAN+JP • Asean Virtual Institute on Science and Technology • ASTRENA Activities in Vietnam (WG, Action Plan, …) • TEIN2/TEIN3-based S&T Collaborations among ASEAN, ASEM Countries
