  2. 1st Amendment Freedom of Religion Freedom of Speech Peaceful assembly Right to Petition the government

  3. 2nd Amendment “I can own a gun now, YES!” Right to bear arms Self protection, not just from crime, but from government as well. One of our favorite rights.

  4. 3rd Amendment No housing troops Kind of like the quartering act during the civil war

  5. 4th Amendment Prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures by the government “Where’s your warrant please?” No one can search your house without having proper paperwork.

  6. 5th Amendment Prohibits self-incrimination “I plead the 5th” Protects Due Process

  7. 6th Amendment Right to a fair and speedy public trial Right to obtain witnesses Since its about the people, it will still be about the people in court.

  8. 7th Amendment Trial by jury Jury votes on whether guilty or not guilty These are random citizens chosen to help, it is a duty.

  9. 8th Amendment Prohibits excessive fines and bails Cruel and unusual punishment Must be a reason to be charged

  10. 9th Amendment Protects rights not stated in the constitution Implied Such as Secret Service and Navy

  11. 10th Amendment Limits power of Federal Government Government cannot do whatever it wants Follows the constitution clearly

  12. 11th Amendment Immunity of states from suits from out-of-state citizens and foreigners not living within the state borders Foundation for sovereign immunity

  13. 12th Amendment Revises presidential election procedures New electoral college States get votes based on population

  14. 13th Amendment Abolishes slavery and involuntary solitude Southern states had to stop slave trade

  15. 14th Amendment Due Process protection to private contracts and thus prohibiting a variety of social and economic regulation

  16. 15th Amendment Prohibits the denial of suffrage based on race, color, or previous condition of servitude Anyone can vote

  17. 16th Amendment Allows the federal government to collect income tax Every pay check, your paying the government

  18. 17th Amendment Establishes the direct election of United States Senators by popular vote

  19. 18th Amendment Alcohol is now illegal in the United States No one can consume alcohol

  20. 19th Amendment Establishes women's suffrage Now have more rights and moving up in the food chain Big step for women rights

  21. 20th Amendment Lame Duck Time between November and January, there is no president Lame period

  22. 21st Amendment Prohibition is overturned 21 and older can now drink alcohol

  23. 22nd Amendment Limits the president to two terms, or a maximum of 10 years

  24. 23rd Amendment Provides for representation of Washington, D.C. in the Electoral College

  25. 24th Amendment Prohibits the revocation of voting rights due to the non-payment of poll taxes No more ballot tax Anyone can vote still

  26. 25th Amendment Codifies the Tyler Precedent; defines the process of presidential succession

  27. 26th Amendment Establishes the right to vote for those age 18 years or older

  28. 27th Amendment Prevents laws affecting Congressional salary from taking effect until the beginning of the next session of Congress
