  2. Detention Center Demographics2008 • 1479 individual patients seen • 2672 patient interactions • 80% males • 88% sexually active

  3. STI results • 1425 juveniles urine tested for GC/CT • 11% positive (158) • 181 cases of GC/CT • 81.5% tested were female

  4. STI results • Females: • 36.5% of all positive results • 21% of all females tested were positive • 66 cases of GC/CT in 264 tested females

  5. STI results • Males • 63.5% of all positive results • 9% (104) of all males tested were positive • 115 cases of GC/CT in 1161 males tested

  6. Chlamydia results • 141 cases of chlamydia • 10% of all juveniles tested positive

  7. Gonorrhea results • 40 cases of gonorrhea • 3% of all juveniles tested positive • 1.5% (22) were positive for both GC/CT

  8. Repeat Infections • 3.5% reinfection rate within a 2 year period • 20% again tested positive within 3 months • Majority had sex with untreated partners
