  2. Two aims of level 3 integrated Aim number 1 – helping you to: • Understand written and spoken academic texts • Take notes • Take part in discussion • Learning important vocabulary (VTL lists 1-12) • Improve your ability to use grammar

  3. Aim number 2 • To prepare you for the IELTS exam • Band 5 or above

  4. Assessment in Level 3 There are 12 grades given in level 3 in total Integrated strand (8 grades - 70%) Writing strand (5 grades -30%) • 4 CGE Tests (30%) • Coursework Grade (10%) • 2 exams (Listening and Reading) – Midterm and Final – (30%)

  5. Integrated strand - 4 ComputerGeneratedExam (30%) • 1st CGE 3 % week 4 • 2nd CGE 6% week 7 • 3rd CGE 9% week 11 • 4th CGE 12% week 14 In each CGE Test : • 35 VTL questions • 20 Grammar Questions • 5 Preview Reading Questions

  6. 2 Coursework Grades (5% + 5%) • CWG allocated by the teacher 2 times during the semester - 1 Group Presentation (2%) - 8 Individual Reading Reports (3%) 1stCWG –5% - due week 9 (1 group presentation and 1 individual reading report per week ) 2nd CWG – 5% - due week 15 (1 group presentation and 1 report per week )

  7. Integrated Strand - 2 exams 30% ONLY Listening and Reading (2 Preview Listening and 1 Preview Reading texts included) Midterm Exam – week 9 (12%) Final Exam – week 15 (18%)

  8. Writing strand 5 grades (30%) • 1 writing project – 7% • 1 alternative graphs grade – 3% • 2 writing exams – 20 %

  11. How to pass level 3 • WORK HARD !!! • Don’t takedays off • Work hard on vocabulary • Work hard on grammar • Work hard on preview listenings and readings • Use my blog: agataintegratedenglish.wordpress.com • Use English websites and ipadapps to practise English

How to pass IELTS • WORK HARD!!! • READ – go to the ILC, borrow books, do a lot of IELTS reading practice • LISTEN – watch TV in English, listen to L3 lectures, use listening practice in the ILC • WRITE – pay attention in your writing course, visit the Writing Centre • SPEAK – use any opportunity to speak English (visit the Speaking Centre)

How to get better in English • Work in classas well as outside the class • BE INTERESTEDin what you are learning • SPEAK ENGLISHduring your English classes • Spend at least 2 HOURSa day to work on your EnglishOUTSIDE THE CLASS • Use resources in the Writing and Speaking Centres • Use resources in the ILC
