  1. The history of the Elevator By Christian terry Period 5

  2. Table of contents History Innovation's Patents Impacts on society Where's it going in the future

  3. History Elisha Otis Created the first functioning elevator and added the first safety brakes on it. http://inventors.about.com/od/estartinventions/a/Elevator.htm

  4. Innovations Originally, the elevator was invented by Archimedes in 236 Bc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elevator Then in 1405, a German engineer by the name of Konard Kyeserhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elevator Now lets speed up time, in 1853 Elisha Otis presented his first functional elevator, with its own safety system so nobody can die. http://www.columbiaelevator.com/main/elevator-history/

  5. Patents EP1558513 B1 One of the elevators made was Traction sheave elevator without counterweight. The 2 Inventors are named Esko Aulanko, Jorma Mustalahtiare EP0601842 A1 Automated dispatcher for two-stop elevator system, to be able to go anywhere. The 2 inventors are named ZuhairS. Bahjat, Joseph C. Walkerhttps://www.google.com/patents/EP0601842A1?cl=en&dq=elevator&hl=en&sa=X&ei=1QY5UqS-JMajrAH--4DQDQ&ved=0CEUQ6AEwAg

  6. Materials The first type of elevator was originally powered by steam to turn the cables. htttp://www.madehow.com/volume-2/elevator But the elevator evolved, the year of 1871, the first hydraulic water powered elevator. http://www.columbiaelevator.com/main/elevator-history/ The elevator became better over the years.

  7. Impact on society positive side It helped a lot of people get to work on time It saved them from walking stairs so instead it'll just take you 2 minutes on the highest part of the building. http://www.columbiaelevator.com/main/elevator-history/ The elevator can lift heavy objects to the next floor instead of lifting something heavy http://www.columbiaelevator.com/main/elevator-history/ Added safety brakes on the elevator http://www.columbiaelevator.com/main/elevator-history/

  8. Impacts on society negative side Killed a lot of people http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elevators#Design People who all are going up, all have different floors so it takes up time. http://www.columbiaelevator.com/main/elevator-history/ People would get stuck on the elevator. http://www.columbiaelevator.com/main/elevator-history/

  9. Future What I would like to see in the future with this invention is, making it more safe Maybe making the invention fly in the air without, the wires holding it Adding a anti-fart gases, so when someone farts it can alert that someone did it and suck out all the bad air
