SUMMERY • Hershey and Chase wanted to find out whether protein or DNA was hereditary. • Steps: • Infected two phages • Both reproduced in separate cells. • Within the reproduced phages, the sulfur did not appear, but the phosphorous did. • Showed that DNA is hereditary because it was radio active. • GENES ARE HEREDITARY
