  2. Hallo! Ich Heiβe Leonard Cohen. Leonard is a young architect from Toronto, who is going to work in Berlin next year. He has heard a lot about the renewal of Berlin, and is very interested in new building and restoration projects since the reunification of Germany. He also heard about "multiculturalism in Kreuzberg", and will discover what this means during his exciting trip to Berlin!

  3. March 12th • The following arrangements have been made for Leonard to travel from Halifax, Canada, to Frankfurt, Germany. The flight will cost him a total of 1347.16$. He leaves from Halifax on the night of the 12th, and will arrive in Frankfurt the morning of the 13th.

  4. March 13th • Leonard will arrive in Frankfurt this morning, then travel by train to Berlin. This will cost him approximately $300. Below shows his train schedule. He will travel to his hostel by taxi, phoning the taxi company Frankfurt Taxi eG at 069 24000027. Leonard will then check into St. Christopher’s hostel, which is located at Rosa Luxembourg Strasse 41.

  6. St.Christopher’s Berlin Hostel Leonard will stay at St. Christopher’s for 2 nights, which will cost him a total of $104.53. He will be staying in a single, private room with a shared bathroom. This hostel provides free breakfast and a free bike rental service.

  7. March 13th • After checking into St. Christopher’s, while Leonard may be tired, he will take a couple of caffeine pills and be ready for the day! • Leonard will eat breakfast at his hostel, and rent a free bike from them as well • While most of his plans involve biking to and from sightseeing and around Berlin, he may also purchase a Berlin City Tour Card for the subway, which lasts 72 hours and costs $33.08 should he so choose • Today will be his main sightseeing day focusing on the main historical buildings/landmarks in Berlin. • To begin, he will bike from his hostel to the Siegessäule, or one of the following locations • Location: In the Tiergarten next to the Brandenburg Gate on Unter den Linden

March 13th OR B) He could visit the Reichstag, particularly to go see the architecture in the Reichstag’s Dome and witness the latest renovation that was completed in 1999 Location: Scheidemannstraße, 10557 OR C) Leonard could go visit the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, another interesting restoration projectLocation: Budapester Straße, 10623 LUNCH: He will eat lunch at local café Café Einstein, at 42 Unter den Linden OR D) After lunch, he could go to the iconic Europa CenterLocation: Breitscheidplatz 5, 10789 OR E) Then, to the New National Gallery Location: Potsdamer Strasse 50 Berlin-Tiergarten OR F) The Theatre am Potsdamer Platz Location: Marlene-Dietrich-Platz 1, 10785 OR G) Bauhaus Arcitecture Museum Location:14 Klingelhöferstraße In the evening Leonard will go on a Berlin Evening Cruise that departs from the boat harbor landing stage in Jannowitzbrücke. It lasts 3 hours and goes from 7:15pm – 10:00. It will cost $24.09, not including dinner, which may also be purchased on the cruise. English commentary is available for the cruise, which follows the river Spree.

  10. Possible Afternoon & Evening Activities

  11. Nightlife After his cruise, Leonard can either: • Call it a night and head home to his hostel • Via biking, taxi, metro • Both the Sbahnhof and Ubahnhof stations are nearby • Stay in Jannowitzbrücke and head to a close-by strip of bars and nightclubs • Go to Kreuzberg

  12. March 14th • Leonard will have breakfast at his hostel, then head over to Panorama Strasse 1a at 10:30, the headquarters of Fat Tire Bike Tours. • Panorama Strasse 1a is 650m from his hostel. • He can choose to go on a 4.5 hour bike tour today to through a history of the Cold War & Berlin Wall. This tour includes lunch and costs $27.40. • Before dinner, Leonard can go visit the Alte Nationalgalerie • Location: ‪Bodestraße 1-3‬‪10178 • He could also go to one of the many other museums in this area, such as: the DDR Museum, the Pergamon Museum, Museumsinsel, the Bode Museum, or for something completely different, Aquadom & Sea Life Berlin!

  13. Museums/Afternoon Activities

  14. March 14th • He will then travel to the famous nightclub/bar SO36, located in Kreuzberg at 190 Oranienstraße. • There are many bars and clubs in this area that he can also go to, including Club derVisionaere, Watergate, Live at Dot, and Lido • Beforing entering SO36, he can eat dinner at one of the many restaurants on this street, which include Rose’s bar, Shanti’s Indian Restaurant, or the Bistro-Bar Bateau Ivre, Café Luzia, among many more. • When his night is over, he will travel back to his hostel via bike, taxi or metro and get up bright & early to head home the next morning!

  15. March 15th • Leonard will eat breakfast at his hostel, then find transportation back to the train station in Berlin. He can phone a taxi or take the metro.

  16. March 15th • Leonard is now ready to catch his plane. Auf Wiedersehen Berlin!
