  1. TOPIC Ball Roll- Which ball will roll the farthest out of a soccer ball, a bowling ball, or a kick ball?

  2. Purpose The reason we are doing this project is: To see which ball out of a kick ball, a bowling ball, or a soccer ball will roll the farthest. Hypothesis We think that the kick ball will roll the farthest because it is lightweight.

  3. Materials List • 1bowling ball • 1 kick ball • 1 soccer ball • 1 ramp • 1 tape measure • Paper & pencil

  4. Procedures • Step 1: We brought a bowling ball, a kick ball, and a soccer ball. • Step 2: We walked to the top of the ramp and set the bowling ball on the edge. • Step 3: With our hand we lightly pushed the bowling ball down the ramp. • Step 4: We measured how far the bowling ball rolled in 25 Feet increments and recorded results.

  5. Procedures • Step 5: WE repeated steps 2-4 with a kick ball and a soccer ball. • Step 6: We repeated steps 2-5 two more times.

  6. Which balls rolls the farthest?

  7. ConclusionOur hypothesis was wrong because we thought that the kick ball would roll the farthest because it was very lightweight. The bowling ball went 147 feet all three times. The farthest the kick ball went was 98 feet. The farthest the soccer ball went was 79 feet. We think that the reason the bowling ball went so far was that when it was rolling down the ramp, it gained speed an d kept going.

  8. Conclusion: Our hypothesis was wrong because the bowling ball went the farthest. If we were to do this experiment again we would use smaller balls.

  9. Acknowledgements We would like to thank Cassi Payne for providing the kick ball and the soccer ball, Becca Ward for providing the bowling ball, Mrs. Ledbetter for providing the tape measure, and the time to work on our experiment, Mrs. Reeter and Mrs. Ledbetter for setting up the science fair and the power point slides.
