  3. Evergreen Indiana Benefits • Shared Resource Project • One library card, valid at any Evergreen Indiana library • Materials move between libraries at the direction of patrons • Provide more service with fewer dollars! • Economy of Scale – • Shared Infrastructure • Shared Resources

  4. Evergreen Indiana • The Indiana Consortium Model • No membership fee • Provides greatest access and most flexibility for the user • Gives member libraries control • Input into structure of organization • Some design and control the ILS’s parameters

  5. Governance • Executive Committee • 9 voting members (3 from each population category) • 6 non-voting members • 3 year term (staggered) • Meeting bi-monthly • Committees • Circulation, Catalog, Technology

  6. Support • Indiana-based full-time technical support • Backed up by Equinox support contract • Free staff training (Circulation, Admin/Reports, Cataloging) • Secure centralized servers & system back-up

  7. Evergreen Indiana Expenses • Covered by State Library • Migration costs w/ Equinox • Generally between $4,000 & $10,000 • Bibliographic records • Patron records • Transactional data • Patron databases washed • New library cards • Re-barcoding –where necessary

New Indiana Migration Model • Indiana State Library Doing Migrations • Have migrated from 17 different integrated library systems • Able to manage to our own timeframe(s) and not be dependent on vendors • Six-figure annual cost savings • Large Library Migration vs. Small • The real difference is server time to migrate data. • Some libraries mapping may be more complex.

  10. Incentives to Join in Indiana • Free ILS • Currently no annual support costs for member libraries • Vastly improved & Patron initiated ILL (holds) • Additional subsidized day of weekly delivery service • Input into ILS policies and development through governance structure
