ENABLING SECURITY FEATURE USING TOOLKIT: • Connect the Seagate device to your computer. • Open the Toolkit. • Click theSeagate Security activity optionon the main page. • Click Enable. • A notice appears stating that you need to create a password that can be remembered or kept safe, as it can’t be recovered. Tick the checkbox to acknowledge the notice and click Next.
Type the8-character code foundon the insert that comes with your device packaging. • Click Next. • On the following screen, click Next. • Now, create a password that you wish to set. But, remember that the password is case-sensitive. So, make sure that the password is easy to remember but difficult to find by others. • Create a password hint. This helps you when you forget the password. You can view your password hint to recollect the password. Click Done.
LOCK YOUR DRIVE: • Remember, your drive will be automatically locked every time after it is ejected or disconnected from your computer. So, you must enter the password to access the drive every time. • Follow thesesteps to manually lock the drivewhen connected to a computer. • Launch Toolkit. • Click on the device on the Main menu. • Click Lock. Type your password and click Continue.
CHANGE YOUR DRIVE PASSWORD: • Open the Toolkit on your computer. • Click on the drive. • Select theMore icon and Change Password. • A notification shows up on the screen stating that the password you create cannot be recovered. • Click Next.
