WhyAssessment for Learning? • Norwegianregulationconcerningthe Education Actstates (amongother): • § 3-11.Formative assessment • Formative assessment is to be implemented as a tool in thelearningprocess, as a basis for adaptedlearning and contribute to thestundent’sdevelopment. The assessment is to be given on a regular basis and can be both oral and written. § 3-12.Self-assessment • The student’sself-assessment is a part ofthe formative assessment. The student is to take active part in assessing his or her ownwork, skillsand progression.

EnglishSubject Curriculum Competence Aims: • use various situations, work methods and strategies to learn English • use various aids critically and independently • describe and assess his/her own work in learning English • master vocabulary that covers a range of topics • use basic grammatical and text structures of English orally and in writing • express himself/herself in writing and orally with some precision, fluency and coherence • adapt his/her spoken and written English to the genre and situation • select listening, speaking, reading and writing strategies adapted to the purpose and situation • communicate via digital media
