What is love
What is Love?

Brain VS. Heart

  • Each brain system is associated with a different set of networks.

  • Lust – triggered by testosterone

  • Romantic Attraction – elevated by dopamine and norepinephrine

  • Attachment – associated with oxytocin and vasopressin

  • The connection to the heart is metaphorical since the heart is the life and death organ.

  • Your heart “feels” the most. The heart is the most vocal organ. When you’re sad the heart slows and purses. When you’re happy, it comes on strongly. When you’re excited, the heart beats more rapidly.

  • The average age of marriage in the late 13th-16th centuries was 25 years old.

  • In England and Wales, a marriage act required a formal ceremony officiated by an Angelican priest.

  • Families sometimes intermarried themselves from one generation to the other.

  • Arranged marriages were the most common up until 1950 when the law changed to require monogomy and equality for men and women.

  • Marriage is viewed as a contractual bond commanded by God.
