  2. Agenda • Welcome & Expectations • Review Semester Goals • Programming Goals and Ideas • Academic Advising Goals • Schedule meetings with individual chair groups

  3. Welcome to the PMM board!

  4. Expectations for Board Members • Be respectful & approachable by all PMM members • Work to fulfill requirements for your chair committee (more info later) • Communication • Check email daily • Respond to emails within 24 hours • Respond to texts as soon as possible • Attend General & Full Board meetings • Or RSVP beforehand (at least 12 hours) that you cannot attend • Follow-up with another board member for updates on what you missed

  5. Semester Programming Goals • 1 social event for both years • 1 PMM-hosted event (Winter Semiformal) • 1 PMM-hosted service project • Website is functional and published to all PMM members • Photograph record of all events is available • Next semester’s events will be conceived

  6. Thanksgiving Dinner at Northside • Held last year – high attendance! • For both years of Progs (new this year) • Possible date – Thursday, November 15th (after the Physics 212 exam) • Social Chair event

  7. Winter Semiformal • Events/Fundraising Chair • Plan actual event (select date/time, reserve venue, catering snacks, music & decorations) • Social Chair • Publicize the event • Sell tickets to PMMs • Act as “host” at the event (thank everyone for supporting PMM & coming, etc.) • Historians • Take pictures at the event

  8. 12+ Program Update • Jefferson students came to speak to PMMs last week • Great turn-out • Thank you to those who came! • PMMs can apply to be student mentors • 10 students - 1st group (starting in February) • 15 students – 2nd group (starting in August) • Applications to come! (Hopefully, by November 20th) • Will discuss administrative details for the future with service chairs

  9. THON Goals for this Year • Paperwork in order • Determine THON duties and fund-raising goals for next year • Possibly start fund-raising this year • By NEXT YEAR • Be recognized officially by THON as a participating organization • Canning trips • Get dancer positions for PMM (hopefully)

Academic Advising Goals • Prog Course Directory (via Google Docs, started by Kelley Chen this summer) See: https://docs.google.com/document/d/18fsbfGE6MVhkWCKhv9ii1ZuGrcEzrZyGw_QoMdvzU20/edit • 1st Year Med Student Prog Speaker • Answer questions and give advice about 1st year (how best to prepare while at Penn State) • MCAT Prep Q&A with 2nd Year Progs for 1st Year Progs (early spring semester)

  11. Next Steps • Each chair committee will schedule a meeting date with a PMM executive board member • Info packets will be sent via email • Review before your meeting with the PMM executive board member • Hopefully, have another big meeting like this one where each chair committee will share
