Purpose • To educate students, faculty and staff on multicultural and social justice issues • To provide community for underrepresented students, specifically MALANA students (Multi-ethnic, African-American, Latino/a, Asian American & Native American) • To create an inclusive community at Illinois Wesleyan, specifically for MALANA, LGBTQ, First-Generation students, women, and minority males.

  3. Signature Programs

  4. Minority Alumni Network Picnic • Every year on the first Sunday in August, Titans in the Chicago area get together for the Minority Alumni Network (MAN) Picnic. This year, the picnic will be held on Sunday, August 3, hosted by Melvin and Demetria Cryer (parents of alumna QianaCryer-Coupet '06) in Hazel Crest.

  5. MALANA Pre-Orientation What is it? Benefits Move in early Become familiar with campus Access to faculty and staff Build community • A 3-day program for MALANA students that allows them to orient themselves to campus and build community amongst each other before the general student population move on campus

  6. SafeZone Educational training for students, faculty and staff on what LGBT means and how to be a good ally.

  7. Lavender Graduation • Graduation celebration honoring our LGBT students and allies

  8. Multicultural Graduation • Graduation celebration honoring our MALANA students with family and friends over a dinner.

  9. Mentoring Program What is it? Benefits Peer or faculty/staff mentor ALL students accepted belong here Extra development • A mentoring program specifically for first-generation students. • IWU F1RST

  11. Summer Enrichment Program A 10-week summer program for 12 MALANA and international students that helps students develop academically, professionally and personally.
