Overview • Global Coordination • DNA capacity building • Direct project support
Global Coordination • UNFCCC secretariat plays a coordinating role in Inter-Agency cooperation: • Expanded staff resources within secretariat; • Expanded collaborating partners, IGES, ACPC, IDB, ADB. • Improved coordination of capacity building initiatives, global and regional events and information materials • Enhanced collaboration in online support systems and information materials • Enhanced availability of regulatory documents in all UN languages
DNA capacity building • Global training on new PoA standards (just completed) • Will be used to update WBI-led online course • Will be used to catalyze POA promotion by DNAs, including through Communicator of the Year Showcase • Regional training sessions on standardized baselines, suppressed demand and microscale additionality • Direct support to DNA through dedicated communication channels in the UNFCCC secretariat
Direct support • Development of grid emission factors (Southern Africa Power Pool, Uganda, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Mali/Senegal, Dominican Republic) • Rural energy access in Africa, workshop with DNAs and rural energy agencies in Addis Ababa (UNEP/WBI/UNFCCC) • Development of PoA templates for Pacific Region (IGES/UNFCCC) • Support and training for African CMEs (UNDP/UNFCCC) • Help-desk for project activities in target countries
