  2. What’s JA About? • Teaches Social Studies based curriculum • Hands-on, fun & interactive activities • Meets a direct school and community need • by teaching • by completing a school based project

  3. Largest non-profit education organization • Reaches 9 million students world wide • Cornerstone students raised over $100,000 for Orange and Seminole County Schools • Nearly 10,000 Central Florida students were reached by Cornerstone students

Junior Achievement Curriculum • Each team member will be assigned to a classroom to teach the JA curriculum • There are 5-6 lessons • Each lesson will last up to 45 minutes • You teach once a week on a day/time that works for both you and the teacher • All materials are provided • Lots of fun, hands on activities!

Other notes… • The classroom portion of JA is completed during school hours: • Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 3:00 pm • Because you will be working with children, you will be required to complete a background with Orange or Seminole County Public Schools • If you have been arrested, you may still be cleared to work with students but you will need to complete additional paperwork

  12. How to Sign Up: • Schedule a project sign-up meeting • Note: all team members should be present at this meeting • During your meeting you will be assigned a project and classroom • Come to training at the JA office • Receive all your materials and contact information • Begin your project!

Selectinga Project • See the JA representative after class to sign-up for a project selection meeting time OR • Assign one person from your group to e-mail Renee Jaggie at rjaggie@jacentralfl.org or call her at(407) 898-2121 ext.16 • JA Interviews will be held on campus in BA1 building, room 234: • Tuesday, August 27th (2:00 pm – 5:00 pm) • Wednesday, August 28th (9:00 am – 5:00 pm) • Thursday, August 29th (1:00 pm – 4:30 pm • Friday, August 30th (9:30 am – 3:00 pm) • Projects are assigned on a first come first serve basis. When you leave your meeting you will have your project! Please Note: All Members Must Attend Initial Meeting with a JA Representative
