Background • From BEE to BBBEE • Through preferential procurement all companies benefit from complying • Special categories: • Qualifying Small Enterprise (QSE)- €500.00- € 3,500.00 mln. – chose 4 out of 7 segments • Exempt Micro enterprise (EME)- < € 500.000- automatically qualify as level 4 • Start-up of less than a year • Sector charters

  3. The 7 segments • Ownership • Management Control • Employment Equity • Skills Development • Preferential Procurement • Enterprise Development • Socio-economic Development

  4. Weighting and Targets • Qualifying Small Enterprise (QSE)- R5 mln. to R35 mln. Only chose 4 segments to measure their BEE level on

  5. Bonus Points • 10% black women in ownership (2) • 10% Personnel participation programmes in ownership (1) • 10% black non-executive board members (2) • 25% Black women in management (2) • Rural areas, unemployed people and cooperatives in enterprise development (125% of value)

  6. BEE Status • EME = level 4 • EME met 50% zwart= level 3
