  2. Media Resource Kit • What is it? • Laptop • Kit • Where is it • Each library will know the location • http://mrk.westernsydneyinstitute.wikispaces.net/ • Who is it for? • Teachers in the colleges

Laptop • Don’t leave the college before you sign-on to the laptop • Use the Blue cord or wireless • Away from the college the laptop will recognise your sign-on • No Sign-on – No Access  • A list of specific software on the laptop can be found on the Media Resource Kit wikispace • Adobe Suite including Captivate; Presenter; Super

  4. iRiver • Can be used to record the beginning of a lesson • Outline the lesson • What issues will be covered • Ask students for clarifying questions • Record • This recording can then be immediately upload to TALS/wiki/Moodle in around 2 mins • Available for student to review • Great if there are missing students

  5. iPod and Belkin Recorder • This resource is most easily identified by students • You can play audio files that are useful for students • Add the Belkin Recorder and you have a REALLY NICE recording device • Pro’s – sound quality is much nicer • Cons – cost is much higher – but not for you, it is already in the kit.

  6. Logitech USB Speakers • Plug in the USB speakers to the computer you will be broadcasting from • Plug it in before turning on the computer for best results • Great quality • Brilliantly enhance sound files • Loud enough for a classroom full of 20 students.

  7. Canon Camera • One of the favourite pieces in the MRK • Quick • Simple to use • High quality for a point and click apparatus • Excellent for creating Photo Stories • Upload photos to your wiki • You can shoot a 17 minute video using the 2Gig Card in the camera • Great still shots • Easy to download

  8. Head Phones • Logitech Head Phones – easy to use, • Comfortable to wear • Great sound quality • Used in Adobe Connect Rooms • Can easily record resources using Audacity (on the laptop) • Record Captivate or Presenter sessions • A good idea to involve the students in this for variety

  9. Web Cam • Can be used to create neat little videos • Here I am asking you to support Oxfam fundraising  • Your web cam can also be used to take still shots – but you have to have the software loaded. • Haa a built in microphone

  10. Visivox • A preamplifier (preamp), or control amp in some parts of the world, is an electronic amplifier which precedes another amplifier to prepare an electronic signal for further amplification or processing.
