  1. Do Boys See Different Optical Illusions Then Girls By Taryn Gillespie Taryn Gillespie

  2. Problem • What effect does gender have on how optical illusions are perceived? Taryn Gillespie

  3. Hypothesis • I predict that the two genders will see different things in the illusions because boys brains aren't fully developed until they are about 30! Girls brain develop in their teens! Taryn Gillespie

  4. Materials • Test subjects- whole 8th grde class • Paper for subjects to write answers on • Pencils for the subjects • Smart board to show the slideshow with the optical illusions • Computer to make the slideshow • Class room to do the experiment Taryn Gillespie

  5. Procedure • Make slideshow (Optical Illusions) • Get room ready (including smart board) • Find test subjects (8th Grade Class) • 17 Girls • 22 Boys • Sit them down and explain the testing • Show test subjects optical illusions • Record their observations as to what they see in the illusion • Make Table of observations/Results Taryn Gillespie

  6. Causes of error • People could not put their first guess down and put what they saw after they have looked for a wile. Taryn Gillespie

  7. Results • Girls Table & Boys Table on Next two slides. Taryn Gillespie

  10. Conclusion • Boys saw more of normal illusions. On most of the boys answers their numbers were even like 50% on both. I think that the boys saw the illusions more evenly then the girls! My hypothesis was correct. Taryn Gillespie
