  1. Conjunction Function! A conjunction is a word that joins together words, phrases, or parts of sentences. They are the glue of the sentence – they stick things together. The most-used conjunctions are for, and, nor, but, or, & yet. – FANBOY! Conjunctions can join words together, like in this sentence: - I'd like five peanut butter andjelly sandwiches, please. Conjunctions can also join phrases together, like in this sentence: - Do want to go downthe hill or up the mountain? Conjunctions also join two whole sentences together, as shown here: - I ran as quickly as I could, butthe ice cream melted before I got home.

  2. Correcting Run-on Sentences with Conjunctions! • A run-on sentence is where more than one sentence has been run together without the right punctuation or wording. An example of a run-on sentence might look like this: • Jenna was extremely tired she had so much to do before her flight to the Caribbean. • One way to correct a run-on is by adding a comma and a conjunction to glue the two sentences together correctly: • Jenna was extremely tired, butshe had so much to do before her flight to the Caribbean. • Jenna was extremely tired, yetshe had so much to do before her flight to the Caribbean.

  3. Interjections Have Feelings Too! • Interjections are words or phrases that express emotion, gives a command, or fills a silence. It can stand alone because it’s a strong interjection. However, if it’s milder, it will become part of a sentence. • Strong Interjection: • WooHoo! I made an A on that test! • Mild Interjection: • Aww, look at that cute kitten.

  4. Let’s create a list of interjections! • Hurray • No • Well • Dangit • Oh
