  6. The Elizabethan Age • Elizabeth I – reigned from 1558 – 1603 • Well Educated • Spoke French, Italian, Latin, & Greek • Was a great Patron of the arts

  7. The Printing Press • Johann Gutenberg – adapted the Chinese invention of the movable type to create the printing press • 1455 printed a complete Bible • Made book printing faster & cheaper • Allowed ideas to spread quicker • Bibles printed in vernacular
