This project delves into Hawaii’s sustainable practices, both past and present, with a focus on the traditional 'Kapu' system that previously regulated resource use. Though the Kapu system is no longer in effect, its principles can guide our current resource management practices. Students will explore how to be 'pono' (just) and 'malama 'aina' (care for the land) today. Led by MahinaPaishon Duarte of Paepae ‘o He‘eia, this initiative connects the past, present, and future, aiming for an environmental understanding that fosters community and harmony with nature.
