  1. Jehovah’s Witnesses • Presentation by: Alex Boothe

  2. Information on JW’S • It was founded in the late 1800’s by Charles Taze Russell. • To make his ideas public he helped write The Herald of the Morning. • In 1884 he got the herald and changed the name to The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. • He found the Tract society and Watchtower Bible. • God is singular (no trinity). He does not know all things and is not everywhere.

  3. CONT’D • He created Michael the archangel. Through him God created all things. It took 42,000 years. • They believe that Trinitarianism is demonic and that all Christian churches are run by Satan, priest are antichrist’s, and that they work for the government. • Russell was proven a false prophet and died in 1916. • Joseph Rutherford took over and made it what it is today.

  4. CONT’D •      “When you study with the Jehovah's Witness, you agree to attend five meetings a week where you are taught from Watchtower literature.  You cannot be baptized until you have studied their material for at least six months and have answered numerous questions before a panel of elders.   Men are not supposed have long hair or wear beards and women are to dress in modest apparel.  They refuse to vote, salute the flag, sing the "Star Spangled Banner, celebrate birthdays or Christmas, won't take blood transfusions, and they can't join the armed forces.  A schedule of door-to-door canvassing is required where you distribute the Watchtower literature, acquire donations, and forward all monies to the headquarters in Brooklyn, New York.” http://www.carm.org/witnesses.htm

  5. False Prophecies, Doctrines, and Beliefs. • 1897- The savior has been here since Oct. 1874. • 1899- the great battle would overthrow the rulers by 1914. • 1918- by 1925 Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and faithful prophets in Hebrews 11 would return. • The Trinity is fake. • God does not know all things and is not everywhere.

  6. CONT’D • Michael the Archangel became Jesus and lived sinless. • He was crucified on a stake. • He was resurrected as a spirit. • Hell is just the grave • You get salvation by doing what the organization tells you. • Satan created the trinity.

  7. Important Dates • 607 B.C.- they use this date because of Daniel 4:32. They use it as the fall of the Jehovah’s kingdom. The seven times mentioned they take times 360 day years and come up with the the return date of 1914. This is the destruction of Jerusalem. • 1914 A.D.- Michael (Jesus) became King of the earth • 586 B.C.- is when Jerusalem was destroyed

  8. The Lord's Supper and the 144,000 Anointed Class of Jehovah's Witnesses. • Not all members can take communion.  • Only the 144,000 members called the "anointed class" have the right to take Communion • They are the only ones who go to heaven and are “born again.” • God tells us that communion is for the whole body. Not just for a select few.

  9. Resurrection by JW’S • Jesus body was not resurrected. • If it was not then how can they explain Luke 24:39 • Jesus died for all sins but Adam’s.

  10. After Death • After death the 144,000 are in heaven with God in spirit bodies. • When they die they cease existing. • They get “resurrected” and live on paradise in earthly bodies.

  11. Questions Asked by JW’S •  If Jesus is God, then why did He not know thetime of His return? • If Jesus is God, then why did He saythe Father was greater than He? • Did Jesus die on a stake or a cross? • If Jesus is God, then who did He pray to?
