Internships During the Year

  7. Aquatic Toxicology • Anne McElory • Internship available to help with routine lab maintenance (glassware cleaning, cataloging and clean-up) and fish culture (rearing, feeding, cleaning, water quality testing). • Depending on availability, student would also have the opportunity to occasionally help with experimental manipulations of fish embryos in the laboratory. • Help is generally needed during the morning 8:30-9:30 and afternoon 4:00-5:00 time windows. • This is not a paid position.

  8. Environmental Chemistry • Robert Aller Lab (Environmental Chemistry) • explore “greening” our nitrate analysis - and using less porewater - by using nitrate reductase enzyme and the microplate reader instead of using the heavy metal Cadmium as the reductant for the analysis • This is obviously a project for a student with a strong interest in environmental chemistry, but the techniques exist (the methods have been developed elsewhere) so it shouldn't be a difficult project.

  9. Internships • These are the Internships that are on Blackboard • Look around the buildings at SoMAS • If you find a Professor who is doing work Similar to your interests then E-mail, Call, and VISIT THEM • Sometimes you need to be assertive and track them down
