BENEFIT QUANTIFICATION Memorial Hermann, Houston Texas, USA

TransCar is a system that is allows a decisively more efficient operation than comparable systems. This was shown in the Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in Houston, Texas. By replacing the 26 year old AGVS with an TransCar system, Swisslog reduced the number of vehicles from 60 to just 16. Although the performance could be decisively increased, which means the over all transport times were reduced by about 15%.

BENEFIT QUANTIFICATIONMemorial Hermann, Houston Texas, USA

According to studies that were made after the installation was finished, the system had a pay-back-time of 2.64 years.

Further on the result of the study was, that Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital-System will save 11 million $, including operational costs and replacement of batteries, etc. over the next 15 years

reason for new drug management chain at nye ahus
Reason for new drug management chain at Nye Ahus

Need for improved logistics

Irrational stock management, loss of drugs and lack of overview

Capital intensive local stock

Work intensive processes (stock, glass, pill, cup, tray to patient)

Possibility of errors on medication due to manual process:

Error in ordering, errors in drug handling, wrong patient

18% of hospital deaths caused by errors in medication (Ebbesen,2001)

Lack of user support for clinical personnel

Alternative technology is available

New hospital is planned with minimum local stock, automation of production and delivery including digitalized work processes
