  4. 6th of October War • 1973 October • Egypt-Israel war to regain Sinai • Soviet Union and USA tried to discourage Egypt from attacking Israel. • Egypt decided to fight • Egypt and Syria united and fought against Israel • Egypt won and Sinai was regained

Economy • The Aswan High Dam was completed in 1971 • It helps in the irrigation, agriculture and industry in Egypt • 1967 war—Egypt lost the war and Suez canal was shut • In June 1975, the Suez Canal was reopened. • Economy depends on the Suez Canal • Reopening was a great Improvement to the economy • More tourists • Foreign currencies

  6. Camp David peace accord • Sadat visited israel and implicitly recognized it as a country • First Arab president to visit israel • Accord Signed on the 17th of September 1978 • Agreement between Israel and Egypt • Peace Prize
