  1. Techno Teacher6.13 Properties of Quadrilaterals

  2. Anticipatory In 5th grade you learned that a triangle has 3 sides and the sum of its angles totals 180˚ A quadrilateral is two triangles put together to make 4 sides. What is the sum for the angles of a quadrilateral? Quadrilaterals sum of angles is ALWAYS 360˚ 180˚ 180˚

  3. Look at the big screen to sing the quadrilateral song

  4. Click the Happy Face to Watch the Video

  5. Make a cover sheet for your interactive notebook6.13Properties of Quadrilaterals Parallelogram Square Rectangle Rhombus Trapezoid Kite

  6. Vocabulary 6.13Write in notebook They never intersect, just like the two “L”s in parallel.

  7. Perpendicular Lines that meet to form right angles

  8. Perpendicular Bisector A line which cuts a line segment into two equal parts at 90°.

  9. Right Angle An angle whose measure is 90°

  10. Plane Figure A two dimensional figure Doodle Bob is 2-D (Sponge Bob is 3-D)

  11. Polygon A closed, two dimensional figure formed by three or more straight sides

  12. Quadrilateral A polygon with four sidesQuad means 4 and lateral means side

  13. 360° The sum of the measures of angles of a quadrilateral

  14. Copy this chart in vocabulary. Use color. Quadrilaterals All 4 sided polygons Kite Trapezoid No parallel sides . Only one pair of parallel sides. Parallelograms opposite sides are parallel and opposite angles are congruent Rectangle Rhombus four right angles and opposite sides parallel all sides congruent Square four congruent sides and all angles congruent and 90˚

  15. Remember, the sum of angles for quadrilaterals is always 360˚So what is the angle measure for x? As a team, decide the answer! 35˚ Click when you have an answer to see if you are right! 35 + 125 + 80=240 360- 240 = 120 125˚ 120˚ x˚ 80˚ Add up the 3 angles given and subtract from 360 and you will discover the missing measure!

  16. Copy and answer the following questions in your notebook Identify the quadrilateral. Arrows mean parallel. Hash marks mean congruent. Find the value of x. Remember quadrilateral angles add up to 360˚. 45˚ 115˚ x˚

  17. Check and Correct Your Answers Identify the quadrilateral. Arrows mean parallel. Hash marks mean congruent. Rhombus Parallelogram Rectangle Trapezoid Find the value of x. Remember quadrilateral angles add up to 360˚. ˚ 45˚ 96˚ 140˚ 108˚ 85˚ x˚

  18. It is now time for independent work. This is a grade. No sharing Information with others.

  19. Exit Ticket- You may use your notes Draw and Name the Quadrilaterals 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
