  2. Biography • The lyra constellation is named after a musical a musical instrument used by the Ancient Greeks. • Ancient people of Britian called Lyra the Harp of King Author.

MYTH • The son of the god Apollo and Calliope, one of the muses. • He married Eurydice a nymph who died early in to the marriage when bitten by a snake. • Orpheus wandered alone for seven months, singing and playing the Lyre. • Trees and flowers followed him while Beast and birds came to listen. • When they wouldn’t have sex with him they tore him from limb to limb and took his remains and head to the island of lesbos. • The rest of his body received burial in Thrace. • Apollo bent down from heaven gathered Lyre and placed it in the sky.
