  3. Does Truth Exist? • Statement – “Truth does not exist” • Is that statement true or false? • If it is false, then truth exist • If it is true, then truth exist • Logical to believe that truth does exist

  4. Desire for Truth • John 18:33-38 • Pilate asked, “What is truth?” • We might ask the same question today • Many wonder what the truth is • Looking at the various doctrines…

  5. Can we know the truth? • Is truth attainable? • How do we know what is truth and that we can believe it? • Jesus said, “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32

  6. We can know the truth! • Great news! We can know the truth! • The question that remains is…What is truth? • Jesus made a very important statement to that effect in Jn. 17:17 • “Sanctify them by your truth. Your word is truth.”

  7. Is God’s word the truth? • How can we be sure, in a world filled with lies? • God of truth – Deut. 32:4; Is. 65:16 • God cannot lie – Titus 1:2; Heb. 6:18 • Bible, history, nature, all prove Him true

  8. Truth proved true • God’s promises have always come true • Warnings & prophesies have always come to fruition • What about statements in the Bible that are lies?

  9. Lies in the Bible? • Gen. 3:4 – Satan’s lie • Bible records what is true, in that it was true that Satan spoke those words • We need to understand that the facts are recorded, even if they are spoken as lies

  10. Nature of Truth • Truth is universal • For all men, everywhere, at all times • Matt. 28:19-20 • Each generation is to teach all that Christ commanded

  11. Nature of Truth • If this is true, we should still be preaching the same gospel to everyone today • Acts 17:30 – All men everywhere to repent • Tells us that the truth is universal

  12. Nature of Truth • Truth is final • Matt. 24:35 – “My words will by no means pass away” • Jude 3 – faith = once for all delivered • Compare that to the sacrifice of Jesus being once for all (Rom. 6:10; Heb. 9:12,26; 10:10)

  13. Nature of Truth • Truth is unchangeable • We, nor anyone else has a right to change what God said • Gal. 1:6-9 • Even if an apostle or an angel changes truth, he is accursed

  14. Truth for us • Words of the Bible are still just as true today as they ever were • It’s still true that you need to be a part of God’s kingdom to go to heaven • It’s still true what we need to do to become a child of God
