Welcome to Mrs. Blare’s Classroom Procedures and Guidelines
Am I in the right room? You should be in Room 213 for Physical Science, Biology or Robotics and Science Technology
Where am I supposed to sit? I will be assigning you seats. This is the seat you will be in for the first couple of weeks.
Will your teacher treat you fairly? Yes. I will always do my best to treat students with respect, and I expect that students treat me with the same respect.
What will I be doing this year in Physical Science? • Measurement • Chemistry • Using Earth’s Resources • Newton’s Laws • Experiments! We hope that you are excited to participate in a hands-on class!
Biology • Genetics • Classification of Organisms • Relationships of Plants and Animals • Ecology - identify factors that can cause changes in stability of populations, communities, and ecosystems.
Classroom Expectations • Think Responsibly • Come Prepared • Have Respect • Show Self Control
Classroom Guidelines • Be in your assigned seat and working on the catalysts when you arrive in the classroom • Bring ALL you will need to class, this includes assignments, paper, pen or pencil • Follow directions the first time they are given. • Treat each person in this room with respect and dignity • Follow all procedures as outlined in the TCHS handbook.
If you don’t understand the directions, please ask! I don’t bite.
Most Importantly • Treat each person in this room with respect and dignity.
Guideline 5 • Follow all procedures and policies as outlined in the Todd County High School handbooks
Tardies • Mark students tardy after the tardy bell, which is the first 5 minutes of class • First tardy, warning • Second tardy, conference with teacher • Third tardy, office referall
Technology • Collect the phones, i-pods, (any electronic devices) at the classroom door. • Students will be given electronic devices at the end of class. • If they refuse to give you the device, it’s an office referral, insubordination.
Skipping • Come to class and leave without a pass • Contact Office • Write up an Office Referral • Follow Student Handbook
Need to go to Guidance or the Office • Student needs to check in with their teacher first. • Need to have permission from Guidance, Office to send them down which teacher will try to get by i-chatting the secretaries • Student fails to go where they should go, write an ODR.
Passes • No passes the first fifteen or last fifteen minutes of class • You will be given a certain amount of bathroom passes you can use during the quarter. Only exception is a medical condition which needs to be documented. • Must sign out when you go to the bathroom. Only students who are passing and have arrived on time to class will have bathroom privileges. • If you are gone more than 5 minutes to the bathroom, it will result in an ODR.
Following Guidelines will result in: • Verbal Acknowledgement • A Stress free learning environment • A pleasant and orderly classroom atmosphere
Not Following Guidelines will result in: • 1st- Warning and documentation • 2nd- Student Teacher Conference • 3rd-After School or Office Referral
Entering the room • Please enter quietly • Grab the catalyst • Have a seat • Take out your materials • Review the agenda • Begin catalyst assignment
When you are tardy • Enter quietly • 1. Excused: Place excuse in the basket on my desk • 2. Unexcused: We will discuss it at the end of class, you will lose attendance points • Have a seat and take out your materials
Grading • Daily work, labs kept in order in your binder • Assessments • Quizzes
Tests and Assignments • The same thing does not work for everybody. • For example, Suzie and Joe need to put a poster on the top of the wall. • What will each of them need to help them get to the top of the wall?
Paper Heading • Name • Class (Ex. Science, Block 1) • Date • Assignment • Place all work in your binder, unless I request that you turn it in.
After an excused absence • Check with Mrs. Blare about your missing work. • Assignments will be listed on the Table of Contents anchor chart • Assignments will be listed by page number and title of assignment in file folders in the black and pink crates
