  5. Back Round (New Loads) • Mahlanzeni Property Developer requested a new bulk supply of 400kVA for property development. The Developer’s point is at portion 13 of the Remainder of the Farm Kliprand 76 KR. The total number of units are 47 full title, a Hotel and 100 sectional title. The nearest pole to the position is pole number RH34/26 (Rust de Venter- Haakdoring 22kV feeder). • Vergenoeg Mine has applied for an increase in NMD from 7.5 to 10MVA (Standard supply) at Rust de Winter 132/22kV 2x10MVA substation. The requested NMD exceeds the feeder transmission capacity and will result in overloading of the substation installed capacity. 400 new jobs are expected to be created with this expansion. According to the mine’s General Manager, time is of the essence, thus Eskom is requested to provide supply as soon as possible. The mine anticipates an increase in demand for flourspar; a product that is used in several products that include nuclear fuel and refrigeration liquid. • There are electrification projects to be connected from Nokaneng 22kV (supplied from Rust de Winter substation). The total load of the electrification projects is expected to be 824kVA. • The customer Bigen Services Consultants Diluculo developer property Trading, has requested a new bulk supply of 2503kVA (715 connections) at 3.5kVA per connection per stand. The nearest pole to the position is pole number WP408/12/4 & WP408/13/6 (Warmbron Pienaarriver). 5

  12. Rust de Winter substation Increase the capacity at the substation by : Option 1: Install a third 10MVA 132/22kV Transformer Option 2: Install a 20MVA 132/22kV Transformer Option 3: Upgrade the substation to a 2X20MVA 132/22kV substation. Option 4: Upgrade the substation to a 2X40MVA 132/22kV substation Note: The MV feeders will only be split after the capacity of the substation has been increased. Strengthening of Haakdoring & Nokaneng Feeders Build the New Feeder Bay at Rust De Winter Substation called Diluculo feeder with the code (RDC). Build the 8km Hare conductor line from the Rust De Winter Substation and up to pole RH93 Create N/O between pole RH92 and RH93 to split the feeder. Close the existing N/O between pole RH277 and WP391/44. Create N/O at pole WP387.WP will be de-loaded by 600kVA to the new Diluculo feeder. Connect the 2.5MVA for Diluculo properties Customer. The New feeder will peak @ 3.8MVA with a minimum voltage of 98%. The old RH feeder will also peak @ 3.1MVA with the minimum voltage of 95.4%. Build 7.22m Hare Inter-connector from pole RH 163/1/42 to pole RNK 148/264. Make a N/O point between pole RNK148/208 and RNK148/207 Strengthening of Vergenoeg Feeder Install a 22kV feeder bay at Rust de Winter substation. Build 22kV 12km Chickadee line from Rust de Winter substation dedicate it to Vergenoeg mine. Disconnect the mine from the Vergenoeg 22kV feeder. Build 1.5km Hare interconnected from pole RV125/42 to pole RL60/66.Make a N/O point between pole RL 60 and RL60/1 Proposed short term solution 3X new 22kV FDR Bays 12

  27. Cost for Option 1(Short Term) 27

  28. Recommendation • Both options will be implemented. The short term solution will cater for the Rust De Winter substation’s short term problem. • The long term solution will cater for the whole study area. • It is recommended to implement the short term solution seeing that the area is growing very fast. • This solution will be quicker than building a new substation and it will allow for future developments. 28
