  8. Lets go over some of the Huhs? Resources: Watch first 7 min: Intro to Econ Nature of Economics GDP: Gross Domestic Product: this is how much a country produces in one year (determines the wealth of a country) Caste System: To keep this simple it is a social structure. Commonly seen in India, people “belong” to a place within society and you interact with the people in your “level”. This is a cultural value, therefore reflects typically a Traditional Economy.

How to produce widgets • Stack 2 sheet of scrap paper • Using the ruler and pencil mark three dots at 1.5”, 5.5”, & 9.5” (along the long side of the paper) • Using single-hole punch, punch a hole at each of the 3 dots • Slip a paper clip through the middle hole to hold the two pieces of paper together. • For decoration, draw a flower around each of the other two holes using the pen

  17. Warm UP • Read your homework to your shoulder partner. • Once you both have read your homework discuss: Who makes the decisions in a traditional economy, command economy, market economy?

  18. How production will run • You will have 2 minutes to produce as many widgets as possible • Make sure they look perfect I will be inspecting them and rejecting ones that do not meet the standard.

  22. How can we increase productivity? • In this round you will try to improve productivity, but you may not change the basic method of production or use more materials
