Standards: Reacted to each situation by shouting "Incoming," followed the leader's directions, if available. Took or maintained cover.
Conditions: You are a member (without leadership responsibilities) of a squad or team. You are either in a defensive position or moving on foot. You hear incoming rounds, shells exploding or passing overhead, or someone shouting "incoming."
Performance Steps Shout "incoming" in a loud, easily recognizable voice. Look to your leader for additional instructions. Remain in your defensive position (if appropriate), making no unnecessary movements that could alert the enemy to your location. Take cover outside the impact area (if you are in an exposed position or moving), keeping the body low if the leader is not in sight.

Direction of Movement - FM If you come under indirect fire while moving, quickly look to your leader for orders. He will either tell you to run out of the impact area in a certain direction or will tell you to follow him. If you cannot see your leader, but can see other team members, follow them.
Direction of Movement - FM If alone, or if you cannot see your leader or the other team members, run out of the area in a direction away from the incoming fire.
