  2. Geographical Location • Found in the Southern High Plains in the United States. • Usually in round depressions or flat landscapes of West Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, and Kansas.

  3. Food Chain

Description • They are round hollows in the ground • They are only present a few times throughout the year. • They’re mostly filled with water after rainstorms. • There is two types of playas; fresh water and salt water playas. • The salt water playa is fed by underground aquifers which carry the salt as it percolates through the soil. • Playa’s are made from carving of the wind.

  5. Human use • Provides water to locations that hardly receive any rain. • They are helpful with agriculture. It provides irrigation • Used for drinking water

  6. Threats • The water is being used up faster than its being replenished. • Pollution: harms the plants and animals (death) • Runoff: causes to hold less water and decreases biodiversity • Holds animal waste: alters groundwater purity • Solutions: using good farming techniques like planting vegetation to filter wastes.
