Professor Gubbins is an authority in the field of molecular modeling, andhe created the SAFT equation which is one of the most important simulation tools for the fluid phase equilibrium. His group’s research program is aimed at understanding, at the molecular level, the behavior of nano-dimensional fluids and solids. His outstanding research achievements have been unanimously recognizedby chemical engineering and chemical industry, and he was awarded the "Alpha Chi Sigma Research Award" by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE)in 1986. The award is to honor the most important academic contributors all over the world in chemical engineering area in the past 10 years.
