Benefits from this project • Rapid intervention for rescue • Watching navigation in national waters (Pyracy, security, etc.) • Improving Management of fishery efforts • Strengthening life safety at sea, etc. • Its un automatic system (GPS & Inmarsat satellite) • Real-time information on the fishing fleet • Optimization of the use of patrol aircrafs and ships • Provide services for the marine professionals. Possibility to add in the futur more sensors for monitoring other physico-chemical parameters.

Situation of Tide gauges implementation? • 4 at the Atlantic coast and 2 at the Mediterranean side. • in 2005, Probably one more in Atlantic within the Odinafrica III project (GOOS WP), and one in the Mediterranean with the CIESM support. • Still not fully operational • Absence of coordination between different operators • Data still not free accessible

  12. Networks • Network of the Littoral Healthiness Watching (at 7 coastal stations : INRH) • Med Pol Network (DE) • National Plan for Combatting Accidental Marine Pollution (DE) • Ports Monitoring & Dredging Programs for Navigation Safety (DPDPM).

Conclusion Even we have not completely benefit from all MAMA WPs, due to internal problems (funds, visa, etc.) we have succeded in strengthening awareness of decision makers on the benefits of Operational Oceanography. This constitute an important step to force Ocean Observations in their agenda.

  15. More than the Scientific Networking, the added value of MAMA is also the nice links «tissés » between all of us! Thank you Silvana, Aldo and all the WP leaders for your efforts Thanks EU Thanks everybody!
