  1. Paris- a BTE platform

  2. What is a BTE platform ? • Hardware used by several different models • Used by multiple brands • Same hardware – lower costs • MX60, PL60, RP60, One65, LQ65 already use same hardware, just no name for the platform. • Configurable as needed. • Same hardware for different price points.

  3. Paris platform • With Paris we have taken the concept a step further. • Complete collection of modules for Power BTE, BTE and miniBTE • Paris70 is here now. • Paris60 and Paris80 will follow shortly. • First appearance for Paris70 will be in AZ71-DVI. • For Beltone used in the Phantom models. • Different housing parts, same “engine”

  4. The Paris modules • First FormFactor size ready is the BTE (Paris70) • Idea of platforms is to make manufacturing and service easy and cost optimized. • Keep flexibility for models and brands. • Modules can be mounted with different housing parts in Xiamen - for branding. • Modules can be loaded with different software in Xiamen – for pricing. • Colors can be changed to order in subsidiaries. • Complete color kits are available from GDC.

  5. Platform-how to do it.

  6. Platform requirements (Paris) • Prepared for rechargeable batteries. • Charging from outside • Both for open and standard fitting (standard and thin tubes). • Telecoil included. • C3 hybrid platform (probably 3.1). • Wireless prepared (agreed size). • Prepared for C4 and C4 wireless (functionality to be excluded no VC in 70 wireless e.g.). • Color marker and Child lock. • Programming via programming shoe. • DAI interface. • Available in Standard and new colors. • Dummy devices must be available at launch date. Supposed to be the mechanically platform from which a traditional BTE HI is to be derived for Both the Resound and Beltone brand in the 60,70,80 form factor. Key features OEM One BTE Platform

  7. Platform development Scenarios Part Communality Design Communality • High reuse of parts. • High degree of modularity. • Size could be a compromise (60-70-80) same size. • Fast time to market. • Production tools limited. • Stability experience can be reused. • Common design elements. • Part reuse limited • New frames for each form factor is needed. • Tool design principles can be reused • More tools required (almost the triple). • Size cannot be compromise. • This was chosen for Paris

  8. Design determinants Thickness • Battery Height • Hybrid size • Receiver Height • Hook type • Thin tube • STD Width Length • Vol. Control • PB’s • Hybrid size • Antennas (flat/round) • Battery diameter • Hybrid size • Receiver length

  10. Design features Resound Beltone • Dividing lines • Shell profile effects • Mic ports diff. • Different texture • Colors • Mic ports diff. • Different texture • Colors Different profile

  11. Design Communality • Same hook connection • Same mic suspension • Same mic location, provides similar directionality index. • Batt chamber function. & feel. • Receiver suspension build. • Battery springs. • Prog, charge and DAI input. (HAI) 80 BTE 70 BTE 60 BTE
