Construction • Construction of the titanic began in 1909. • They had to make alterations to the ship yard so they could fit the titanic and its sister ship. • The 4 funnels on titanic were constructed away from the ship yard. • The titanic was fitted with 16 water tight compartments. • After the titanic’s main parts were complete ten months were then spent fitting out the interior. • The titanic had three huge propelers.

  4. Facilities Onboard • There were a lot of facilities onboard such as gymnasium, heated pool( the first on a ship), squash courts, a library, turkish bath it had wireles radio and many more things.

  5. Maiden Voyage • Its maiden voyage started in south Hampton and was supposed to go to new York. • It also stopped at the coast of France to pick up more people. • The captain that took it on the maiden voyage was Captain .J .Smith. He was a captain known to take ships on their maiden voyage.

  6. Iceberg Collision • The titanic hit the iceberg at 11.40 pm at night. • When it hit 6 of the water tight compartment got flooded. • Before the collision the look out spotted it 50 seconds before it hit.

  7. The Sinking • When it sunk it split in two. • The band carried on playing until it went down. • Half the people were still on board when it sank . • Most of the people that were on board were men.

  8. Survivors • Only half the people on board survived. • The amount of people survived out of 2223 was706. • 31.8% of the people survived and 68.2%died. • The white star line sent a ship out to retrive bodies so they could get a proper buirial.
