Details • Site Mission: To inform music/art/culture lovers about MIA—not just her music, but also about her visions, ideas, and symbols she uses to spread her larger message about the Third World identity. • Audience: For all those interested in rap/alternative music, but also for those interested in how culture and music intersect. “Conscious consumers of music” • Content: A lot of my content will be obtained from media sources such as articles and interviews conducted with MIA. I will also use her website and social media as sources of information. My goal is to provide the audience with an overview of her music, as well as what she means as a larger cultural figure in pop music. • Graphics: MIA is known for her crazy graphics, so I will try to use Photoshop to manipulate images and make them more dynamic. I will primarily be using images from the web throughout the webpage, to make each page more interesting.

4. Design and Style • M.I.A uses colorful graphics and images to convey her music and message, so my site will aim to recreate that. I will be using bright colors, such as yellow, green, orange and blue, and will aim to make the page accessible and easy to read. However, there will be an effort to make it “over the top.” • M.I.A. uses circles as a theme and symbol across her albums, and I would like the page to resemble a circle. This will be tough to achieve, but I will try to manipulate the “border radius” tag to create an overarching circular structure. Within that structure, I will try to use boxes to recreate a rough look of a map of South-East Asia – just boxes of different sizes and colors placed where countries lie. (M.I.A. is Sri-Lankan and her music emerges from the post-colonial experiences of the region.) • Approximate page count: 15-20
