JETRO’s role in DMIC On December 28th 2009, DMICDC and JETRO signed the MOU DMICDC and JETRO will cooperate with each other to: find appropriate business partners, in eco-related sector, through its various platforms like business seminars, exhibitions etc. Interact with the respective State Government/Agencies to promote and provide consultation on DMIC projects including the proposed “Smart Community” in their respective regions. Set up a committee to study the various requirements of the proposed “Smart Community” at selected locations in DMIC region and showcase model “Smart Community” in cooperation with related State Government, JBIC, JICA, NEXI and NEDO. Participate actively in DMIC projects as a supporting agency and send a representative to the board of DMICDC as a special invitee.

Why Smart Community? • Development under the DMIC should be eco-friendly for the sustainable growth. • In December 2009, when Honorable Mr. Yukio Hatoyama, Prime Minister of Japan visited India, India and Japan agreed that both countries will promote “Smart Community” an Eco-friendly township and industrial site Why JAPAN? Experience Technology Model Project Japan had experienced various environmental problems during the process of high growth Japanese companies has advanced environment technologies, systems, and knowledge In the four locations, Model Project for F/S will be conducted by Japanese consortiums

  7. 4 Model Projects outline @ Manesar, Haryana The overall expansion plan in Manesar industrial region near the center of Japanese enterprises . Construction of the infrastructure of State-of-the-Art IT control technology, energy network including gas heat supply, transportation and distribution. @Maharashtra, Shendra Gradual urban development approach. The water project and recycling are to be the first phase. Next phase, smart grid utilizing solar power and power storage technologies and intercity transportation connecting compact city will be deployed. TOSHIBA with NEC, TOKYO GAS JGC Corporation with Mitsubishi Corporation, Ebara Engineering Service, IBM Japan , Nikken Sekkei, City of Yokohama @Gujarat, Changodar-Dholera Comprehensive development planin Waterfront area. LNG Cold power, solar power, and smart urban transportation (ITS/EV commuter), etc. are combined, with the high-efficiency power generation using abundant natural gases, by the information technology. Gujarat, Dahej Comprehensive development plan including urban transportation utilizing ETC, water treatment, recycling, and smart grid utilizing abundant sunlight of India and panel technologies of Japan. Singapore enterprise, and municipality of Japan are involved in this consortium.
