  1. K-2 Bucket Fillers • HCLS Character Curriculum in the Resource Room • by: Andrea Villafana

  2. Monday January 27, 2014 • Watch the video with your family and discuss what you saw. Reflect on the “invisible bucket” that everyone, including pets, may have. Answer the following questions: • What can you do to keep your bucket full? • How can you keep your family’s buckets full? • Please make sure you answer your questions in your journals on a daily basis.

  3. Tuesday January 28, 2014 • I have attached an A-Z list of ways to fill your bucket. I would like for you to pick 3-5 of these “bucket fillers”, discuss with your family, and then: • K-draw a picture showing how you are a bucket filler. • 1st-write 3-5 sentences showing how you are a bucket filler. Make sure you create a 4-square graphic organizer to get your thoughts in order. • 2nd-write 1-2 paragraphs explaining how you are a bucket filler. Be sure to practice your paragraph writing that you have been working on in your classrooms.

  4. Wednesday January 29, 2014 • Today we created an anchor chart discussing Bucket-Fillers and Bucket-Dippers. After discussing with your families answer the following questions: • What is a bucket-filler? • What is a bucket-dipper? • Kinder-write 1 sentence and draw a picture. • 1st Grade-Write 3-5 sentences. Remember to give an example of each. • 2nd Grade-Write 1-2 paragraphs. Use your organizers and remember to give an example of each.

  5. Thursday January 30, 2014 • Students and families: • This week you have been reflecting on being a bucket filler. I would like for you to make your own bucket filler board at home, like the one we created in our classroom. You are to make it a point to fill each person’s bucket with a new drop everyday. In your journals, I would like for you to write about how you filled your family’s bucket. As a family, decide on what has to be done to fill the bucket. Please summarize in your journals what you did. I also want you to discuss how this might make a difference in your home. Remember, we will be discussing this in class tomorrow

  6. Friday January 31, 2014 • The weekend is approaching… • Look back and think about everything we have talked about this week. As you are out doing errands with your families, I would like you to notice everyone’s “invisible buckets”. Ask yourself: • Is their bucket full or empty? • What can I do to add a drop to their bucket? • Watch the videos on the link titled : Bucket Filling Moments • Use these videos to help you answer the questions.

  7. ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND! • Students and Families, • Have a great weekend! It is Super Bowl Sunday and Groundhog Day! What do you predict the groundhog will say—6 more weeks of Winter or not? Who do you predict will win the Super Bowl—The Broncos or The Seahawks? I look forward to hearing about your predictions and if they were correct or not! See you Monday! • Mrs. V
