  2. LOVE:Serving someone unconditionally(no matter who they are), willfully(no matter how you feel), and sacrificially(no matter what it costs).

  3. 4 words used for “LOVE”: • “Storge” = love for family • “Phileo” =love for friends • “Eros” =emotional, physical, passion kind of love • “Agape” =unconditional, willful, sacrificial love Why do we love? “Because of” love VS.“In Spite of” love

  4. 1. We are called to show love to“the least of these” We are to love those in our lives that are easy to overlook. Matthew 25:34-40 (ESV) 34  Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35  For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36  I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’

  5. 1. We are called to show love to“the least of these” We are to love those in our lives that are easy to overlook. Matthew 25:34-40 (ESV) 37  Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38  And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39  And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40  And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

  6. A modern-day parable (allegory) . . . . .

  7. 2. We are called to show love to“the worst of these” We are to love those in our lives who have hurt, betrayed, or mistreated us. Matthew 5:43-47 (ESV) 43  “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44  But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45  so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

  8. 2. We are called to show love to“the worst of these” We are to love those in our lives who have hurt, betrayed, or mistreated us. Matthew 5:43-47 (ESV) 46  For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47  And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?
