Philosophy The compass that points us in the direction we should go and decisions we make • We believe programs should be inclusive for all regardless of skill level • We believe that FUN and enjoyment of playing sport is the foundation for long term participation • We believe in creating age appropriate sport programs based on the Long Term Athlete Development model • We believe in investing in coaches through educational opportunities regarding the latest trends in youth sport • We do not judge our athletes based on mistakes but embrace mistakes as part of the learning process • We value, reward and model EFFORT • We believe that failing to plan is planning to fail

  7. Concussion Policy • Recommend baseline testing • In the event of a concussion we follow the UOP Concussion Protocol • For concussions outside of our sport PLEASE let us know right away!

  10. Volunteer with PCNSC • Just by being out there cheering, supporting, and taking photos you are doing the most important parent job.   11. Trail Access • Comp, Devo Plus and Devo Team athletes – White Pine Season Pass is included. Please pick up in December at White Pine Nordic Center. • Soldier Hollow – PCNSC athletes may ski at Soldier Hollow during all practices for free. • Round Valley – We often practice here. Trails are groomed and maintained by Mountain Trails Foundation! Please consider becoming a member!!! • Multi-use trail etiquette! 10 seconds of kindness – you are representing PCNSC

  12. Licensing/Memberships • USSA • Everyone needs a USSA license to participate in USSA and IMD races. www.ussa.org *Parents and athletes are responsible for their own license/membership renewals.

Waxing • For all IMD Series/JNQ comps: • U16s, U18s, and Us20s may ONLY use Hydrocarbon and Fluorocarbon waxes as base layers • may ONLY use pure flouro solid waxes that can be rubbed on as top coats (no powders or liquids) • U14s and younger may ONLY use Hydrocarbon waxes as base layers (no Fluorocarbon wax) • U14s and younger may not use top coats • Comp Days – Athletes are responsible for waxing their own skis unless arranged otherwise with coach.

Trip Payment • All athletes who travel on more than 1 PCNSC trip must have a credit card on file (you can do this tonight at the reservations desk) • Trips must be fully paid prior to departure. • Coach or Program Manager will send out email a minimum of 2 weeks prior to trip notifying you of final cost • Cards on file will be charged within 1 week prior to trip departure unless you contact reservations with an alternate payment method!

Communication • Email is our primary method of communication! • Weekly training plans from coach • UOPnordic.org – news, calendar, photos, updates, and more! • www.uopnordic.org • Weather! • If we need to move or cancel a practice we will notify you via the Sport Engine app! • Coaches Office Hours • We are available from 9-7PM Monday – Saturday. If it is an emergency we will do our best to answer you outside of these times. Our in-house policy is to return your calls and emails within 24 hours.

Creating your account: • Go to www.uopnordic.org • Click on the green button labeled: Register: Park City Nordic Ski Club Member Information • Sign Up for a SportsEngine account • Ensure you have included ALL CONTACT INFORMATION you would like us to use for communication!!!! • Activate your account – an email will be sent to you. Click activate • Go back to www.uopnordic.org • Click on the green button AGAIN. This time you will be able to LOG IN • Follow the prompts to complete the registration. • You are now a UOP Nordic member and we have saved lots of trees by completing the Code of Conduct, Waiver, and Concussion forms online =)

Mobile App • Go to the app store and search: Sports Engine • Download the Sports Engine app • Open the app • Log in to your Sports Engine account • Subscribe to your TEAM by searching for the team ID # • SJ-NC L4 Comp Team – 1634935 • SJ-NC L3 Devo Team – 1621079 • SJ-NC L1-2 Team – 1621061 • Click on the star icon – this ensures that you receive calendar updates and messages for this team.
