Exercise

  • Explores NEW WAYS OF OPERATING
  • Often employs M&S as primary tool
  • Develops emerging capabilities definition while applying new technologies
  • Establishes discovery environment
  • Stimulates creation of new tactics, techniques and procedures
  • Examines EXISTING WAYS OF OPERATING to improve readiness
  • Typically live forces centric with simulation support
  • Training & education focused
  • Reinforces established processes, procedures, benchmarks
  • Facilitates warfighter certifications

Joint Concept Development and Experimentation

Problem Statement

The Department of Defense requires the ability to focus and synchronize experimentation efforts to ensure the most important security challenges, now and in the future, are being addressed while ensuring a focus on customers; a focus on outcomes and a return on investment

Experimentation

Design conduct and enable comprehensive, innovative and objective joint experimentation to examine validity of concepts and capabilities to satisfy needs of the Joint Force Commander.

  • Concepts
    • Innovative
    • Intellectually Rigorous
    • Clearly Written
    • Concise and
    • Defendable
  • Capabilities
      • Define
      • Experiment
      • Transition
  • For the future Joint Force Commander

Enterprise Approach

Collaboratively and transparently lead JCDE Enterprise efforts to synchronize concept, capability and experimentation efforts across the Department of Defense.
