  3. HISTORY OF TABLE TENNIS • Table tennis is a game of very recent origin it is started as variation of Lawn Tennis and was first played on dining room table tops in the clubs of Great Britain. From Britain, this game spread to other countries of Europe and Asia. It found a place in the modern Olympic games only in the year 1988at Seoul , south Korea • It is very popular game today because it suits players of all ages and can be played under all condition. Table Tennis Association of India was formed in 1938.

  8. RACKET • MAY BE OF ANY SIZE, SHAPE , OR WEIGHT, PIMPLED RUBBER OF NOT MORE THAN 2MM . INWARDS OR OUT WARDS NOT MORE THAN 4 MM

  9. CLOTHING • HALF SLEEVED SHIRT • SHORT OR SKIRT • SCOCKS & PLAYING SHOSE • COLOUR – ANY COLOUR OTHER THAN WHITE

  10. GAME • A GAME NORMALLY CONSISTS OF 11 POINT, BUT IF THE SCORE IS TIED AT 10, THEN THE WINNER IS THE PLAYER OR PAIR THAT FIRST SCORES 2 POINT MORE THAN THE OPPOSING PLAYER OR PAIR .

  11. MATCH • A MATCH MAY CONSIST OF THE BEST OF THREE GAMES OR BEST OF FIVE GAMES.

  12. CHOICE OF SERVING, RECEVING OR ENDS • SHOULD BE DECIDED BY A TOSS

  13. CHANGE OF SERVICE • TWO SERVICE • AFTER DUES ONE SERVICE

CHANGE OF ENDS • At the change of ends, a player or a pair that served first in a game should be the first receiver in the following game till the end of a match. • In the last possible game of a match ,the players should change ends when a player scores 5 points. In the last possible game of a double match ,the receiving player should alter its order of receiving when either pair scores 5 points.

  15. Service • The server should project the ball upwards at least 16 cm. without imparting spin to the ball when it is descending downwards

  16. GOOD RETURN • Passes directly over or around the net and touches the opponents court. A ball touching the net or its supports while passing over or around it is considered to have passed over directly

  17. ORDER OF PLAY • Server & Receiver should make a good return alternately till the Ball gets out of play. (same doubles also)

POINTA PLAYER LOSES A POINT IF • HE FAILS TO MAKE A GOOD SERVICE • HE FAILS TO MAKE A GOOD RETURN AFTER A GOOD SERVICE OR RETURN • HIS FREEHAND TOUCHES THE PLAYING SURFACE WHEN THE BALLIS IN PLAY • HE VOLLEYS THE BALL • HE HIS RACKET OR ANYTHING HE IS WEARING , TOUCHES THE NET OR ITS SUPPORTS DURING PLAY • HE OR ANY THINGHE HE CARRIES, MOOVES THE PLAYING SURFACE DURING THE PLAY • HE OR ANYTHING HE IS WEARING COMES IN CONTACT WITH THE BALL BEFORE IT TOUCHES THE PLAYING SURFACE ON HIS SIDE OF THE NET AFTER GOOD RETURN OF THE OPPONENT. • HE STRIKES THE BALL OUT OF HIS TURN IN DOUBLES GAME. • HE STRIKES THE BALLTWICE IN SUCCESSION • BALL DOUBLE TOUCH ON TABLE SURFACE

  19. LET/ REST/ TIME-OUT • LET- ITS VOLLIED BY THE RECEIVER WHEN SERVICE TOUCH THE NET • THE RECEIVING PLAYER OR HIS PARTNER IS NOT READY TO PLAY AND MAKES NO ATTEMPT TO STRIKE THE BALL • THE GAME IS INTERRUPTED FOR CORRECTION OF MISTAKE IN PLAYING ORDER OR ACCIDENT etc. • REST- IN BETWEEN OF TWO GAME REST TIME IS ONE MINUT • TIME OUT- ONE MINUT IN A ONE MATCH
