What are waterspouts? • Waterspouts are basically tornados over water. It is a whirling cloud over a ocean rotating in a column that consist of a watery mist.
What conditions cause waterspouts? It is caused by a center of low pressure and wind will start to whirl around it will soon develop into a waterspout . They usually start forming with clouds that bring thunder storms.
How long do they last? *They last around 10 to 15 minutes
When do they usually happen? • May to September
What kind of damage do they casuse? • They can cause harm to ships and shore lines.
facts • Some sailors have reported to have seen as many as 30 waterspouts in a single day. • Can form over lakes • The earliest waterspout recorded was in 1456 in Alcona Italy.
